Local Italian Restaurant

Luna di Luna

Tonight, a friend, whom I hadn’t seen for a while, and I met up for dinner at this small, local Italian restaurant near my home.

I’ve lived in this area for 3 years and had never even heard of it before. I’ve even driven by it multiple times and never noticed it. Yes, it’s a red building. It’s also small and tucked back between two other larger buildings. When you’re driving and not specifically looking for it, it’s difficult to see.

So, back to the story, my friend and I met up for dinner there. The restaurant has a fairly small menu so pretty easy to order. We both ordered the Luna Special, which consisted of chicken, shrimp, asparagus, artichoke hearts and pasta in a creamy garlic sauce. It was amazing!

Before the entrée came, they serviced us fresh, warm bread. And then, they served us a house salad. We also shared a bottle of wine. Come on, we’re at an Italian restaurant, wine is a given, right?

Best Part of the Meal

The best part of the meal was at the very end. My friend and I had declined dessert. It was hard to do, but we both were extremely full from the meal. Although we were finished, we stayed for a while to chat and catch up. While we were chatting, they gave us a mini tiramisu cocktail…no charge! It was so nice of them and it was just as amazing as the meal!

Now, you may be wondering, “How in the world did this gal find this place?” Long story short, I was reading through a post on NextDoor, about Famous Dave’s closing in my area. On that post, people were mentioning other restaurants that are in the area. Luna happened to be one that popped up multiple times in the thread. I found their Facebook page, read the reviews, saw the posts, etc. and decided, “I must go there.” A couple of days later, my friend and I got in touch with each other and decided to meet for dinner.

If you are in the Twin Cities, MN and would like to check out an authentic Italian restaurant, I highly recommend Luna. However, if there are more than two of you, you will need a reservation for a table. The place is tiny (50 max occupancy) and extremely busy. If there’s only two of you or you want to go solo, you will easily be able to get a spot at the bar.
