Third and final day in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Sadly, it wasn’t a full day, I was only there in the morning before driving back to San Francisco to catch a flight home to MN. If you’re looking for things to do in Carmel-by-the-Sea, here’s a short list of things to do.
Picnic Lunch from 5th Avenue Deli
Walk over to 5th Avenue Deli from Hofsas House. They offer both breakfast and lunch. What’s even better is that they offer picnic box style. This is what I did. I purchased a lunch picnic style so I could enjoy the delicious food later. They also sell the delicious caramels that I had during my stay at the hotel.
Next, I went to the 17-Mile Drive gate in Carmel-by-the-Sea. It’s $10.25 to do the drive. This is very important; they only take cash! Once again, cash only. Do not go without having enough cash first.
Once you pay, you’ll be given a brochure and more information. They also have an app which would provide more information during the drive. I didn’t have great service in the area so I did not download it. It probably would have been nice to have the app download, but it wasn’t necessary.
I spent a couple of hours driving the 17-Mile Drive. I would stop here and there for some pictures of the coast. I loved the roads, trees, houses, coast; pretty much everything about that area.
